How flesh cold is
the drain of sight,
veil spun black.
How dream real is
distilled dissonance
and vapour condensed,
pure moon in silver.
How is was is
now, now
shadowed yesterday.

The Taking of the Princess Anne (1792)
Hail, the wind's haulin', my lads, to the nor'ward.
The prize we're a'chasin's now caught in our tack.
Raise your glaives flashin' and ready hooks starboard;
By night we'll be singin' and drinkin' king's sack.
She's a beauty, see how she hauls close to the eye.
There'll be no beam finer in all the king's fleet.
I'd wager she'd outrun a ball on the fly;
But that traitor north wind's put us hard in beam reach.
See the gild glitter on her bow, sprit and helm;
See the sweat drip from the tars at her sheets.
Stand hard my good laddies, stand hardy to whelm;
Make the lines ready to fast to her clea
I Think She Has a Cat
My secretary is a bright
woman.
She's an aggressive
woman.
She is beautiful
too.
She
keeps me
on my toes,
a challenge.
Really.
I like it when a
beautiful woman
is intelligent.
I can toy
with words.
She understands
the hot issues that
are hard to
fit into
the pushing
and pulling,
the biting
and clawing
that is retail.
I like that she pretends
not to play.
My wife is a beautiful thing. I
don't have to play with her.
She just knows, somehow, what I want,
and I want
her. My
wife is beautiful.
I
make sure she's okay. I
give to her the things she needs.

Count On Me
I know. I write such stupid stuff (and not
Very original either), with all
The syllables in their proper places;
But then, no one counts anyway. So why?
Why ten thumps thumps thumps (is that enough?) thumps
With each martial line demanding no more
And no less, like a pinched nosed bookkeeper
Debiting my depleted account-o?
Why? Because like Malvolio to all
The maids and fools counting on their fingers,
It just does not work without a straightman.
But then, a whisper does not huff and puff.
Nor do butterflies land, but merely pause,
To taste each poetic moment, and then
Move along to the next well formed flower.

Black are the pools from the salt dipped oars;
Deeper than a grave are the stern drawn bores.
No crush from the bow on the wet, blue stones
As cold as the grin on the gray skull's bones.
No rub from the oars that slide from the locks;
No thud from the boots that stride up the rocks.
No feather ruffles on the headless gull,
That sleeps on the keel of the up-turned hull.
The fog draws away from the lamp lit door,
So dread is the shade from an ancient lore.
Peaceful are the sighs of the sleeping babe,
Softer than the quilt that the kinsmen made.
Pure white is the frost that forms on the sill,
Colde
In Awe of Woman
Naked she rides, hidden in conjugate rhymes,
Offering happy condolences for good deeds.
Charming is her assonance and subtle her falls.
I have a shaman's rattle and a rabbit's foot.
A spell she breathes, scented with yewberries,
Her balm, powdered mandrake, her lips, night's shade.
She carries wolfsbane oils and a downy owl's feather.
I have a shaman's rattle and a rabbit's foot.
In chant she murmurs, slow curving ululations
intertwining canticles and writhing consort.
She contracts her rhythms to a tight crush.
I have a shaman's rattle and a rabbit's foot.
At moon she howls, draped in spider threads
gemmed with
How flesh cold is

and vapour condensed,
pure moon in silver.

I need some advice. Next fall I will take a camera and a graphics computer and head generally westward until I return home. Then keep going.
I need advice on the best camera that travels well but takes high quality photos.
Secondly, I need a laptop (or some kind of pad) that can do high end graphics and photo manipulation. And the best software. I have Adobe now but I'd rather switch to something that does not try to install sleazeware every time I update. Pity Adobe has evolved into such a sleazy organization since they have one of the best graphics suites in the business. But I digress.
Please, any advice on these items would be gr
Bought a fairly inexpensive DSLR during the Boxing Day Sales. The weather turned immediately bitter cold. I will not be going outside any time soon. However, it's good to feel the creative juices again.
Been spending a lot of time getting to know Photoshop better. All the great art on this site makes me want to aspire to a better understanding of the process. The trick however is not spending all my time on development and none on creation.
This site is starting to depress me. I browse all the incredible works and cover my face in my hands. I will never achieve such excellence.
